RYAN CLANCE
Drums/Percussion
Education: Bachelors of Finance Kennesaw State University
Experience and Expertise: Ryan picked up his first pair of drumsticks at age 7 and began drum training. Ryan's first record was Clint Brown's "Live from Orlando," and by age 12, he was serving his church's worship team on drums. Twenty years later, Ryan serves a few different worship teams and plays drums for various other projects. Ryan recognizes the privileges to have worked with some well-known projects, and challenges himself to learn and play as many genres as possible on drums and other instruments. Currently, Ryan serves the Living Hope Church worship team a couple times a month along with other projects and worship teams.
Specialty: Bringing passion, agility, and fun to the drum set. Educating multiple techniques to understand the essentials of your favorite drummers and music. Teaching the ability to play along with songs, to accompany yourself, and even to play in groups! We will do this by developing the skills, theory, and the timing you need to grow your musical ability.
PAUL HEDMAN
Suzuki Violin
Education: Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern Mississippi, home of the largest and most respected music departments in the Southeast
Experience and Expertise: Completed teacher training in all ten volumes of the Suzuki curriculum as well as numerous supplemental courses under the auspices of the Suzuki Association of the Americas
Teaching Experience: Private Suzuki violin teacher in the Atlanta area since 1983; many of his students obtain positions of leadership in their school orchestras, in youth symphonies all over metro Atlanta, and have been admitted to university music programs
ROBERT HERRINGTON
Acoustic Guitar
Education: Bachelor of Jazz Performance from Kennesaw State University
Experience: Over 10 years of experience teaching and performing various guitar styles. Composed for independent films and media projects. Developed engaging jazz lecture series informing audiences of great American jazz composers and style periods. Currently directs and performs with the RH Group and RH Trio in the greater metro-Atlanta area.
Specialty: Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Jazz, Blues, Music History Education, Arranging & Composition
ALICE JOHNSTON
Acoustic Guitar
Education: Bachelor of Music with Concentration in Classical Guitar Performance from Berry College.
Experience and Expertise: Years of teaching students of varying skill levels and ages. Background in classical and jazz guitar. Currently pursuing masters from GSU in Guitar Performance.
Specialty: Aims to create a safe, inspiring atmosphere for learning. Prioritizes positive affirmation while challenging students to push themselves to set and achieve their own goals. Passionately sharing music expertise to enhance learning skills, develop musical abilities, and create a positive outlet for creative self-expression.
SUSAN O'BRIEN
Piano
Education: Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Kennesaw State University
Experience: Over 20 years of teaching one-on-one piano lessons. Over 5 years of teaching classroom music in private schools. Over 20 years of performing music in different churches.
Specialty: Piano and Keyboard
OLIVIA ROBERSON
Piano, Voice
Education: Music Education with Choral Concentration from Kennesaw State University
Experience: Nearly 10 years of choral training; Various school and church choirs; Chamber Singers at Kennesaw State University
Specialty: Teaching the fundamentals of proper singing and technique to ensure future success as a singer and musician overall. Teaching about the benefits of a positive attitude and making music fun!
JUSTIN ROGERS
Acoustic, Bass & Electric Guitar
Experience and Expertise: Justin picked up his first stringed instrument in the 6th grade, and by age 14, he was serving his church’s worship team on both guitar and bass –and has continued to serve in worship ministry ever since. 22 years later, he has also enjoyed many opportunities to write, record and perform music spanning many genres and environments. Justin recognizes the honor and privilege to have worked with well-known worship artists, platinum songwriters, Nashville artists, The Voice television show contestants and finalists, and many good friends along his musical journey!
Justin currently serves as the Worship Director at Living Hope Church, alongside his wife, Melissa.
Specialty: Helping you to understand the essentials of your favorite music on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or bass guitar. To teach you the ability to play songs, to accompany yourself, and even to play with others! We will do this by developing the skills, theory, and the “ear” you need to grow your musical ability!
MARYELLEN TRUELOVE
Piano
Education: Associates degree in Science with concentration in Nursing from Macon College; retired from 30-year career in nursery; Bachelor’s degree in Modern Language and Culture with concentration in German and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Kennesaw State University.
Experience and Expertise: Formal training in piano from age six through college; played for chorus in high school and for church choir; Director of Music and organist at Thomaston Methodist Church in Thomaston, GA; taught music and played piano for VBS programs; played piano for the Korean Ministry at Faith Lutheran Church in Marietta, GA.
Teaching Experience: Teaching piano to children and adults for over 10 years.
